Seasonal-Hiring-Needs-Tips

Getting ready for the holiday season can be a mixture of chaos, panic, and anxiety. However, meeting your seasonal hiring needs does not have to be as stressful as Black Friday at midnight. Here are some ways to prepare your company for your seasonal hiring needs

Bring them in early

Get an early lead on advertising your seasonal hiring needs and stick to a deadline, GiffGaff CEO Steve Pritchard says in Business News Daily. It’s vital to get the new workers in early because they will need training. “You need to be realistic about how long your seasonal staff will need to get to grips with their responsibilities, and it’s better to be safe than sorry,” Pritchard says.

Decide in advance if you need an employee or a contractor

Depending on the kind of business you run, you might have the option of bringing in a contractor instead of an employee. Employees are part of the company’s payroll with insurance and benefits, but independent contractors are not.

Advertise both with social media and in person

Since seasonal hiring usually keys in on specific areas, finding available workers in your store or company’s region can be made easier by using social media. Also, use your social media posts to show what working for you is like, with images of people on the job, or even videos and chats with employees. You and your employees can be ambassadors for bringing in new people on social media and by word of mouth; after all, you already work there and can let people know of your company’s advantages.

Treat your seasonal workers just like your regulars

Train your seasonal workers efficiently and well; they are eager to do a good job and to make a good impression. Get the most out of their time and make them feel like they’re part of the company, Business News Daily says.

Be flexible

One reason seasonal workers may want to hire on is the flexibility that a temporary job offers, according to The Society for Human Resource Management. Look into cross-training them so they can pick up more shifts or extra shifts, or give them advance details about their schedules.

By following these tips, you can avoid some of the holiday-related stresses, by bringing in quality workers to keep your business flowing smoothly through– and after– the holidays.
